Find your inner strength with Monica Arellano (Virtual)

June 12th

11am - 1:30pm

Eastern Time

Jumping back and through in the ashtanga yoga method, and any vinyasa method of yoga are important transitions to move us through the practice while maintaining a one pointed focus. Refining these techniques in between postures can be an effective way to build patterns of strength that will serve us for more advanced strength based postures, beginners and seasoned practitioners alike.

Join Monica (Authorized level II) teacher, to look closely at the foundational elements involved and then put them together in different versions of jumping back and through to accommodate where you are in your journey. Learn to identify any obstacles unique to your practice and how to work towards feeling more graceful, light and confident in these transitions

Two definitions of Yoga compared, contrasted, and synthesized with Patrick Nolan (Virtual)

July 10th

11am - 12:30pm

1pm - 2pm

Eastern Time

Most Yoga practitioners are familiar with this definition of Yoga from Patañjali’s Yoga Sutra: Yogas-citta-vrtti-nirodah, or, “Yoga is the correct focusing of the fluctuations of the Mind.”  There is another equally pithy definition from the Bhagavad Gita which is often overlooked, and that is Yogah karmasu kauśalam, meaning “Yoga is skill in action.”  In this workshop we will use these two definitions as a springboard to compare, contrast, and ultimately synthesize the different approaches to Yoga offered in the Yoga Sutra and the Bhagavad Gita.  There will also be some chanting and some in-depth Sanskrit analysis.  Not to worry, the material will be made accessible to anybody interested in learning some more about the philosophy of Yoga, whatever their level.
